About

The Aquatic Guild & Co. was founded by Gareth Farr to design, build and look after ponds properly, from the first conversation to the fish that live in them.

Gareth's story

In Gareth's words, to follow

This section will tell how the business began and what Gareth cares about in his work, written by Gareth and lightly edited. It replaces this note once his text arrives.

What we do

New builds are the heart of the business. We design and build koi and ornamental ponds, raised ponds with viewing windows, natural and wildlife ponds, ecosystem and ephemeral ponds, and estate lakes. Ponds are built in flexible and box liners, fibreglass, concrete or clay, dug into the ground or raised, and finished with aquascaping that makes them feel settled in the garden. We also rebuild and repurpose water features, and bring old or abandoned ponds back into use.

Behind every good pond is good filtration. We design and build complete filter and pump houses, including bog filters for natural ponds, and work with local authority building control on larger builds when it's needed.

Looking after existing ponds matters just as much. We find and fix leaks in ponds and waterfalls, repair liners, fit bottom drains and skimmers to existing ponds, and clean out weed and sludge. We test and correct water quality, repair or replace pumps, clean filter chambers and media, change UV bulbs and carry out winter overhauls, along with the paving, pointing and pressure washing around the pond.

And we care for the fish. We diagnose and treat koi and sturgeon on site using a mobile laboratory, supply veterinary-grade medication, treatment plans and isolation tanks, rescue fish when ponds close, fit predator deterrents and offer an emergency call-out.

How we work

  1. A call

Tell us about the pond, the site and roughly what you would like to spend. Booking a call online works just as well.

  2. An estimate

A guide price early on, so you know where you stand before anyone commits.

  3. A site visit

We see the site, take measurements and talk through the options in person.

  4. A formal quote

A written quote by email, setting out the work agreed.
